Langley, B.C. (July 14, 2018) – Today, the Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation welcomes another major donor to the Emergency Response Campaign. The Langley Memorial Hospital Auxiliary has added to their tremendous efforts in helping maintain high quality care with the donation of $1.5 million to the campaign.
On May 28, 2018, Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation announced the $15-million campaign, Emergency Response, which is dedicated to developing a new emergency department, as well as a new MRI for the hospital.
“We are so pleased to be a part of the Emergency Response campaign in such a meaningful way,” says Thelma Boileau, president of the Langley Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. “We love making an impact on the community and the hospital, and this donation is simply an extension of that!”
Over the past 70 years, the Langley Memorial Hospital Auxiliary has committed time and money to helping create an exceptional hospital experience. The members of this organization are all volunteers, giving their own time to help the community of Langley receive the care they need. The Auxiliary’s 220 members sponsor and run programs such as acute comfort care, meet and greets for visiting loved ones, pastoral care and comfort pillows.
Besides volunteer programs that help to make hospital visits memorable in a good way, the organization has also committed to raising money over the years – through the hospital gift shop and Penny Pincher Thrift Store in Langley – to enhance the care and facilities at the hospital. Including the $1.5 million announced today, the Auxiliary has donated more than $10 million over the past 15 years.
“Langley Memorial Hospital is 70 years old and the Auxiliary has been here fundraising every step of the way,” said Phil Jackman, campaign chair for Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation’s Emergency Response campaign. “The commitment of time and energy this organization gives is incredible and I’m honoured to accept this outstanding gift on behalf of the community.”
