On August 15, 2019, at the Redwoods Golf Course, 144 golfers took place in our 23rd annual Charity Golf Tournament, proudly presented by Valley Traffic Systems.
At this sold out tournament, guests enjoyed a tailgate brunch, a full game of golf, followed by a lobster and BBQ steak dinner and dozens of chances to walk away with prizes and auction packages.
Best of all, our community raised $108,000 to support the urgently needed equipment that will help improve the health and well-being of Langley residents.
During the dinner reception, our guests met Dr. Scott Cowie, a surgeon at Langley Memorial Hospital, who shared one of the urgent equipment needs facing our hospital this year.
Every year, over 4,500 individuals come to Langley Memorial Hospital for endoscopic surgery. These patients are facing the possible diagnosis of digestive and gastro diseases ranging from ulcers to cancer.
Our community residents expect – and deserve - the very best, in a facility that offers modern care.
We currently have the right people to provide that care – our endoscopy team is the most efficient in the Fraser Valley - but much of our current equipment is past the recommended life-span, and we don’t have enough equipment to keep up with demand.
But there is good news!
Thanks to the support shown at the Golf Tournament by sponsors and donors, we are well on our way to funding this urgently needed equipment. This will improve the clinical care team’s ability to provide life-saving care and meet the needs of our growing community.
We could not have achieved such a fun and successful tournament without the generosity of our sponsors, donors, golfers, and volunteers – so thank you.
